Just curious peoples thoughts on rope thickness for pier crabbing with conical hoopnets. Would you go 1/4" or 3/8" thickness?

Where do you go crabbing? For conical crab rings from the pier use 8 strand 3/8" braided polypropylene.until the rope brakes, then step-up to a size larger on your rope, For box crab traps start with 1/2" of same. GL Tony

I crab off of the South Beach Pier in Newport.

I also crab the same areas. Try crabbing at the start of the boardwalk just around the corner from the C.G. station. GL Tony

CG Station? What's that? Also, how many feet of rope do you topically use?
