Fished out of Newport Saturday for Halibut, my first time! It was pretty damn fun! I caught three a very small one, a 32incher and a 43" which is the one i kept.

Fishing was rough at first, the captain said it was probably one of his worst days Halibut fishing, then not long after we got the two 42inch plus fish! Pretty good day of fishing after we found them!

Congrats. I was probably out there. 4 on my tag this year with atleast 1 more trip to go. you think 600' is bad. My last fish I landed was in 882ft per the finder and I am guessing The line was out about 1100ft.

The hill is just as they say a hill. At the top of the hill its 560ish. At the end of the drift its if i remember right roughly 1025ft.
