Hello Fishable: It really depends on WHERE YOURE AT! Portland area was Developed and Channelized long ago. You just gave to go further now: say 50-100miles for decent trout fishing!! Get a recent copy of “Fishing in Oregon”! That and the Regs should put you right!
Good luck to You!

Hello, I'm looking for a suggestion for a stream open year round for trout that's close to the metro area.
Streams that are both open and productive are few and far between on the west side this time of year. Drive time from the Portland metro is an hour minimum, typically much more. Many of the year round streams nearby, like the Tualatin and Yamhill systems, only hold trout in their upper reaches, which are fast, cold and hard to fish in the winter months. You’ll also find that the vast majority of open west side streams flow largely through private property, and are difficult to access. I’ve spent countless hours in pursuit of year round trout water close to home, and have found one or two spots, but I still spend at least 75 minutes in the car each way to reach them. And with the amount of rain we get during winter in the Willamette Valley, none of them are particularly dependable. In my experience, the extra drive time to destinations further south or to the east is well worthwhile.
