So I haven't really been out seeking steelhead since early August cause it was pretty slow. with the rains rising the rivers, the action was on today! Ended up running into Hobster and we had a slay fest together pretty much taking turns hooking fish! Ha ha. was a fun day!

Couple of nice bucks you guys got there, congrats! Were you on the Willy or Mac? drove to town run launches this afternoon and the river seemed devoid of fisherman except for one drifter... More for anyone who manages to get out though!

Best,

Thanks. On my home river the mac up at hatchery hole :)

good job guys way to slay!!!Glad you like your new pole to Brandon

Great job guys. Looks like you had one of those fantastic days that ruins you for a while :)

What an awesome day that was! I think we hooked like 10 between us, it was red hot for a while. Spur of the moment decision to go down there, grabbed some eggs from Leaburg market and hooked 2 within the first 10 casts. I got some great eggs from that hen and the buck was a little over ten pounds when i weighed it at home, but it probably lost a little water weight? Had some for dinner off the grill and tasted great. My wife took a picture at home i'll post - it makes it look bigger. It was a lot of fun fishing with you Brandon, see ya out there next time.

Yeah you were on fire! Not to mention. we also both had back to back hookups too! Great day

Thanks Mike! Yes I am in love with my new rod! Super sensitive and strong! Was definitely a fun way to break it in! Going to be very hard to find a rod in the future that will be better! Ha ha Once you go G. Loomis, you don't go back ha ha

Some hog Steel! I must get out there today or tomorrow

Yarn ball bite has been retarded. Daniel and I hooked more than we could count before the water went up. I also landed a Springer than was in as good of shape as any I hooked this summer!

So what's the advantage currently, float or drift fishing?

Yeah all the fish were really aggressive and seemed to be starving for just about everything! Ha ha. I think they haven't been eating very much cause the warm low water has been messing with them. and the water change was like flipping a switch back on on their brains or something. ha ha it was some pretty awesome action!

Well it depends on what kind of water you're going to be fishing. both tactics are deadly effective still. I was hooking fish on both ways yesterday... for me personally, this time of year: roe is the way to go! Ha ha

Roe is the way to go up there this time of year. Lots of steelhead like to chomp on free floating salmon eggs this time of year.

Yeah, we hit it at just the right time. I was there the day before (hadn't been there since july) and i went 0/2 in like 8 hours. That big rain on monday probably brought them up and they were hungry! I was bouncin corkies/yarn and a little row on a 3 ft. leader and they were slammin it. Best day of steelhead fishing i've had - at least in such a short time. It was pretty insane actually, i fished for a little less than 4 hours and i finished with the same slinky/swivel i started off with and only lost 2 hooks- 1 to a fish. Thats bouncin off the bottom too - i usually rig up 10 to 15 times- crazy, huh? The fishin gods were smilin down that day. :D

All those fish that were in that hole yesterday or going through it, i think thay are all in the trap now! There is about 50 steelhead in it right now. There was about 20 or so before that rain in the trap.
