nothing to really brag about :lol: just thought we needed to start getting some fish porn going on this page.had fun only caught one rock greenling though usually get a lot more......FISH-ON!!!!!

Very nice! I tried a little jetty fishing a few weeks back with no success in the 45 minutes I spent. I need to figure it out so I can kill 'em like you.

2 Oz weight, double hook crappie style rig, sand shrimp on top hook, berkly gulp shimp on the other, 1 hour + and - slack tide = 100 fish a day

ya,just like that. though I usually only use a couple heavy splitshots crimpt right on the bottom.they get my shrimp down and will slide off if I get snagged.

Thanks for the tips guys. I saw some guys killing them on a crappie rig when I was down there, looked like they were having fun. Lol.

I used a jighead with a 3 inch curly tail white grub, and I feel like it could have been productive for the bass and lings, but the tide was coming in and I only stayed till I lost my first rig. Next time!

I have heard that if you go jetty fishing at night its a blast because the fish will feed more towards the surface allowing you to use topwater baits has anyone heard of any truth to that. I know you would be putting yourself in a somewhat unsafe condition. Any thoughts

There are pleanty of threads on here about night fishing and they kill fish. Look one up its very cool.

Night fishing works great IF you bring some lanterns (ie coleman type) because the LIGHT brings the baitfish up to the surface near your spot and then every fish around wants an easy meal . But yes plugs work good for bass then. Dont know if I would do it during winter, but def in the summer on a nice night with the high tide a few hrs after sunset is ideal.

Those are some nice greenlings bythesea........im going to try and get down there sometime this week and try some poke poling.

So, what's the technique there? How far does one need to cast?

I don't use much weight on the jetty ,so I just toss it out about 20' and let it fall to the bottom.All or the the majority of the fish are right at the bottom of the jetty.

They are easy fish to catch, fish off one of the fingers off the south jetty and you will catch fish, i use 6 inch jigs with 1 1/2 oz weights to catch lingcod.

Always!!! I've got my lifejacket on every time. it's strange though I've never not one time seen anybody wearing one OH'well.Any way went back out today slowww caught 1 sea bass.I'm sure your doing a lot better.I'll be up to see ya in a couple months w/reletives we'll go get some of those big lings!!!good hearing from ya,Take care............FISH-ON!!!

Looks like you have the greenling fishing dialed in. Those are some of my favorite to eat. Are those the ones with blue meat? I know some are white and some are blue. I agree about the need for more fish porn on the saltwater page- I've got a few pics I'll stick up here soon.

On a side note. Does anyone ever use crab guts for bait? This time of year , if you are around crab that's being cooked, save the gills and the inner soft shell for bait. It's the best but very fragile. I used to catch greenling and perch with those parts of the crab. Thought I would mention that as I have never heard anyone talk about that on here.

I'm not for sure,but it seems like it's just the rock greenling that have the blue meat and the kelp greenling are white???@ any rate they both make great fish sticks!!..as for the crab sounds like good bait those gills remind me of clam necks which are good bait.I think they'd eat just about anything soft w/smell.

At night is the best time to catch black bass We use a light that floats on the water connected to a battery. Fishing is lights out. Try the last 1.5 hours of hi tide into hi slack and the first hour of the outgoing tide. Can be easy 100 fish nights.
