Slow morning, saw a few steelhead....very few! I think the springers are gone until the spawn! Grey overcast morning, made sight fishing difficult. The 1st tailout I saw 2 fish laying in 2 diffferent spots that they really like to hold in, they seemed to be sulking....I don't don't know, waybe they have been fished over pretty hard and didn't feel like playing. After a couple of hours Of trying a few different offerings I slid a roe and sigle jelly egg combo infont of a nice buck about 7-8 lbs, it made him figdet just a bit. made a nice little cast the next go-around and I watched him slide slightly towards me, turn his head and watched the white of his mought open, it took about 3 seconds or so and I felt the rod load.....fish on!!!! Fiesty one jumped 2 or 3 times right off, got him under control to the point that I gave a few quick preliminary looks around for an adequate place to beach him easily....that's when the hook slipped out....Oooppp's   It happens!!!

Fished another solid 3 hours in 2 different holes. The 1st hole, a solid tailout when the fish are in, sometimes 9 or 10 wiil stack up there when they are running good! Never saw a fish!!! Stopped at another tailout of a hole that had been good when the water was up, immediately spotted 2 steelhead finning to together behing a rock, within a half dozen casts they were gone....spooky for sure! We need some new fish! I had seen one other hanging tight to a ledge, fished him a while....no dice!!! I was just about ready to bag it for prior obligations, but thought I would run a tight narrow slot a few last times....I had already hit it 10 times this morning. I let the bait run way out over the lip almost into the next rapid and and Bam!!! Scrappy bright little buck for what she was....took me down the rapid into the next hole. Not huge, a little 23" cookie cutter buck....fought hard though!

He's gonna be lunch tommorrow!

Up above Glide all the way to rock creek. Lot's of Wack-o-doodles fishing yesterday....can't hardly wait for the fall chinook to show up!

At least the moss is dying off for the year!

I've climbed up that tree and have seen up to 40 or 50 steelhead lying in that tailout before! The springers usually hold right along Papa rock, but since the gravel washed in last year, it's been terrible fishing up there! This springer season wasn't very good in that tailout! Haven't gone up there to see if there are any steelhead around!

Almost hunting season!!!
