Good day on the Slaw, despite a little rude behavior

My housemate had a good day,

He said everybody was really friendly and nice - except some of the guides.

A few suggestions for those who guide:
1. Slow the hell down - this is a no wake 5 mph zone, there is no reason to be roaring past folks trolling just because you can. You have no more right to the river than grandpa in his tin boat.
2. When someone has a fish on, back off rather than making a beeline for them. You don't know where their line, fish are, and they don't need you crowding them.
3. Watch you wake when near landings, boats pulled up to shore, etc. Your wake can set 600lbs of drift boat up on the mud, making it difficult to get back off.

We all pay to fish, one way or another - just because some folks are paying you does not confer special privileges - if your any good you don't need them and ought to be setting an example of ethical and considerate behavior.

(rant over)

My housemate is a large guy, didn't weigh the fish, but unbiased observers put it close to 40lbs. I am looking forward to some good eating (he is a pro chef), and resolving to get a motor for my drift boat before next year :)

Sick!! Good to see they're still around.

I've noticed the guides act like it's Reedsport down on the slaw, rather than a much smaller river.

I'm no chef, but I can even make one of those things taste delicious!

good work to your buddy!

That's a hog! Nice fish!

Spot on with the advice and the fishing!

Couldn't have said it better myself. I dealt with some of the same BS for a few trips this year.
Great looking fish. Congrats to him!

WOW,excelent fish fellas,thats a hawg

Hell yeah!! Mad nice fish. I've come to accept that most salmon guides in tidewater and on the Columbia are certifiable d-bags when it comes to boating courtesy, especially when you're in a small boat that doesn't cost 50 grand. Makes it extra sweet when you go home with a huge slab and their clients that paid this "pro" up to $300, are just staring twiddling their thumbs.

Nice job guys....

Nice fish!

But I do have to stand up for at least a couple of the Guides. I fished with Curt Currey and Nick Frankes on the Siuslaw and both of them were EXTREMELY curtious to the boats around them. Nick even stopped mid troll to offer assistance to a lil 12 footer that the guy couldn't get the motor started on. And Curt was talking and networking with several people in smaller boats that were regulars out there, to help us and them catch fish. It's unfortunate that a couple bad apples can ruin the whole batch....

:clap:The most kind and considerate guide out there looked like you bud way to get your buddy on the hawgs my man.
