Free coffee grounds for worm farms

If any of you raise your own worms/nightcrawlers...I heard today, that Star Bucks (and some other coffee shops), will gladly give you their used coffee grounds. They make for great worm food (along w/ other munchies for a well balanced diet of course).

A gardener told me about this. So, go get 'em. What a great way to recycle!

My compost is full of fish carcasses and green kitchen waste and the worms have moved in by the hundreds. I'd like to add some coffee grounds though. Thanks for the tip. I might have to hit them up.

Lol, there has to be a catch. Starbucks doesn't do anything for free :)

The grounds are free because they are their garbage and it makes them look good because they are recycling. :)

Anyway, it is pretty nice to know if you need them for your garden compost, or like TD suggested, for raising worms.

You need to clean their restrooms!

Coffee grounds is an "old" trick I've used as a kid.
Had a compost pile and always added the grounds. Worms love them!

Jamison, you're welcome.

CoastalD, it's top secret, so don't tell anyone...starbucks actually makes there coffee out of ground up nightcrawlers...it's a conspiracy! Shhh......

Woz, yep me too. I used my own "tossed out" grounds for my worms probably 30 years ago. But, if anyone wants more than their own production...recycling them from a coffee shop is most excellent.
