im an oregon native and i have a lot of friends that live in the wa- just courius.....

see you on the water !

welcome to the forum serpent spirtit... ( that sounded like the begining to a D&D game ) It Pretty simple... becouse its worth it, wash is $65 becouse who would want to go fish in the most overpriced overtaxed overfished ( natives get everything in wash ) state, everything is against the law, but they love to allow meat-heads to keep native steel.. Now you take the I-5 corridor from Vancouver to the california.. simply the finest class of fishing with the most amenities and variety for a least amount of money probably in the world.. you cannot catch more fish of trophy size on more varietys of rivers anywhere else I have ever been. A non-resident oregon license is a deal... it should be $280

Doesn't it cost $280 for ANY "out of stater"...not, just for Washingtonians?

BTW HHM...I thought our rate increase of $9 this year was excessive. PLEASE let's NOT propagate an increase to that much for Orygonian natives!

with all due respect... lets see what $180 gets you anywhere
1 weekend in Disneyland with 2 kids
1 nite at great wolf lodge with 1 kid
a couple hours in any one of the concrete tepees ( casinos )
2 lift tickets and parking for 2 days at Hood
1 lame azz laui ticket in maui
2 tanks of gas in my truck to get to my favorite river..twice
1.5 tickets to the rolling stones
dinner and drinks for 2 at el goucho

or the right to fish every single day of the year in one of the best fishing places on Earth... yeah.. what a rip-off:rolleyes:

I must disagree, this cost only serves to curb some amount of much needed tourism in the state. It takes away opportunities for both out of state fishers and in state businessmen to capitalize on what otherwise get's netted and sold over seas or back east. If the state had the preservation of sport fishing in mind by increasing fees it wouldn't allow the long seasons of commercial fishing. This added cost only serves to diminish the sport fishery as a whole. By keeping most Washingtonians out of the Oregon fisheries they are free from Regional pressure to maximize the sport fishing industry and quell the takes by commercial fishermen.

Hyjacking...

Hyjacking...

Focus please, the original question was about the cost.

Chuck

Ummm, Troutski...we ARE discussing the cost.

And if anyone tries to charge us that much money, to fish a natural resource (and my heritage as a 6th generation Oregonian)...I will personally take up arms and lead a revolutionary revolt!

(I'm still talking about the cost here...)

By the time I bought my fishing license, tags and weed tag for the boat + the Warm Spring Res yearly permit it was close to $300. Can't say I'm happy with the costs but I'm happy to fish with Oregon friends. So it's worth it, if I was a drinkin & smokin man, $300. wouldn't go very far, fishin license last all year.....

Just my .02

ok troutski... on track.. won't make any remarks about the comercial fishing or what I think of tourism dollars..
In the last 12 months, as in every year I have bought a years license in California, Alaska, Idaho.. and British columbia, multiple 3 day licenses in Nevada washington and montana.. paid for parking, and access fees and hotels and food and gear and a few guides.. if you want to know what that cost you can text my wife.. myself I have no desire to know what it cost... fishing is my life.. my mojo..... and you have to pay to play.- good fishing-

haha I enjoyed that

see you on the water !

Where are you getting your info?!? While IT IS more expensive in OR, your numbers are way off.

Actually, my washington license would look something like this

23 - ANNUAL COMBINATION FISHING LICENSE $ 89.40
44 - COMPLIMENTARY VEH PERMIT $ 0.00
356 - COLUMBIA RIVER SALMON AND STEELHEAD ENDORSEMENT CATCH RECORD CARD IS REQUIRED $ 8.25
115 - ENDORSEMENT: PUGET SOUND CRAB $2.50
SUB TOTAL: $ 100.15
DEALER FEE: $ 3.00
TOTAL: $ 103.15

now, you Washinton residents would pay something like this in OR...

Angling License $106.25
Combined Angling tag $26.50
Shellfish $25.50
Total $158.25

In the end, it's just apparent that ODFW knows it can pad it's budget by exploiting folks coming from out of town. These numbers can drastically change by add-ons like 2-rod licenses, boat licenses, hatchery harvest tags, etc. I've put in over $200 into ODFW licenses and tags this year. Yes, It would have been cheaper for me just to cross over and fish Washington.

Thats becouse I don't put a price on the things that make me happy... keep moving.. we will go fishing as soon as the real gamefish start running in november.

Also in Washington what do surf fishermen get for their paying the fees. Hardly nothing. You dont see the state rasing perch, lingcod, strippers, flounders or any other surf fish only salmon and trout. Also the locals that live by the beaches call the game wardens every time you put a pole in the water hoping to stop you from from coming back to fish. I have been approached many times by the game police but I always obey the rules and have never been ticketed. But the locals take pride in turning you in. Sorry state of OR. but I will continue to come to your state to fish no matter how much the cost. I love you Or.
