Caught (and released) my first spring/summer salmon on the Sandy yesterday. I think its a Chinook. Put up a good fight but she wore out pretty quick.

that sure is a chinook. Look at the gumlines they are black also the spotting along the top. Those are a couple indicators of a chinook. Also we do not have Spring Coho, those are a fall run fish, as well as a fall run chinook. Congrats on your first springer

Yup, what he said above! :)

Nice bright springer there!

Since it's your first one, I'll just mention to try and keep them in the water for the release of the natives. The sand abrades their slime layer and eyes, kinda like rubbing yourself with 60 grit sandpaper.

Best,

eugene gave ya great advice there. I am sure you were full of excitement at the time which I do believe we ALL have had those moments. Every day is a new day for learning new things.

Definetly a Chinook! nice job!
what part of the Sandy?

NOOKSTER. Nice fish there buddy.

That Nookie INHALED that spinner!!! Nice!

Purdy lil buck Springer! Congrats on your first, hopefully many more to come.

Nice springer. I lost one 2 weeks ago on my second cast. I was rigged for steelhead with 12 pound mainline and fought a nice one for 15 minutes. My mainline snapped before my 8 pound leader did. Good job getting your first nook on the sandy.

Where on the sandy did you catch this? Could you catch this all the way up to Oxbow Park?

It was well above Oxbow. It was between Dodge park and Cedar creek.
