Are you talking about kokanee and trout fishing?? If so Id much rather use a down rigger. You'll fight the fish more and not have the diver make more resistance while bringing it in.

DR's are faaaaaaaar more accurate. Say a fish is below the range of your diver or above, what do you do then?

downrigger if you can, if not, i would use lead line. heavy lead, and divers take the fun out of kokanee fishing. unless youre talking about salmon. then i have no idea.

I like downriggers better than divers. I use weights most of the time when trolling but I will break out the downriggers for kokanee fishing.
