Did I screw up bad?

First off I caught a 6 footer earlier today in Milwaukie Bay. Clean hookset on the lower left side of the lip with a 5/0 barbless hook on a 50lb mono leader. My first sturgeon ever. Released it quickly, never took it out of the water, and he swam away with no issues. I didn’t need to resuscitate it at all.

So here’s my screw up. I thought I have to report all sturgeon catches to OdFW and logged it on my combined angling section in the OdFW app. That was because I thought ‘harvest’ meant all catches including catch-release. Therefore, I logged a 72inch sturgeon and I can’t edit/delete the entry.

I contacted ODFW to see if they could fix it, but had to leave a voicemail with the supervisor of the person I spoke with.

So I ask anyone here with any similar mishap as me or knowledge of the inner workings of ODFW: am I in trouble? Should I be worried? I do have a video showing the fish being released, but still I can’t help but catastrophise the worst.

You might get a call from an OSP officer depending on if ODFW gets around to your voicemail or not. Just explain to him what happened and he might want to investigate a little bit but as long as you don't have a whole bunch of fresh sturgeon in your freezer you should be fine. Tagging mistakes happen all of the time.

Great advice right there. And @acidfilter you're owning up to it and being proactive. So, things should (I suspect) work out fine if you do reach out to them.
