Went fishing Detroit lake last Saturday. A few boats on the lake, but overall quiet. There where three of us and we all caught our limit. There where no considerable size to the trout, but still quite fun.

How was the water level?

The water was low enough where we had to use the winter boat ramp. I like to go again this week-end but I'm sure the weather will cooperate.

I was up there probably the same day on the 7th. Caught most of my larger fish by going out and letting the wind push us toward the island. Just drifting a chunk of worm and corn. The closer I got to the island, the bigger the fish were. It was too windy for my fly gear. A good day. Even better knowing I skunked my boss on his own boat

Drifting a chunk of worm and corn? I never thought of that. Instead we trolled a dodger and max's wedding ring also tipped with corn and worm. I was impressed with the double whammy wedding ring. Crazy names these lures have. But I'm almost certain that anything would have worked. No kokanne though.

Kokanee should be up in the river getting ready to spawn.

Other than having engine trouble it sounds like you had fun. I think I winterized my boat too soon.

See anyone out there bank fishing? Or is the water high enough to where boats are essential this time of year. Thanks.

Boats are a great thing to have but not a necessity. There's great bank fishing all around the lake, I found that little inlets where there is a creek flowing in I've had my best luck. Was up there 2 weeks ago and pulled out 3 14" and a bunch of 10 to 12 inch trout. So good luck and tight lines.
