Cougar in the spring...

Took Lucky to Cougar on Saturday, perfect day for catching. Clear sky's and sunshine, 59 degrees and a slight breeze.... Too bad the fish didn't cooperate, did catch a few but the full moon must have kept them feeding all night because they didn't want anything to do with our presentations. This lake is so spectacular, mother nature sure went out of her way to make this place... The water is gin clear for sure, you could see the fish but they just ignored our attempts, well not all but the vast majority snubbed us for sure.
Well at least no one got hurt, for me that is saying a lot.....

It was definitely a nice day to be out! Maybe the fish will cooperate next time. (It was much the same story at Hagg too).

Thanks for the report Chuck. Any size to the fish you caught?

After Jeanna's report last week I was thinking about visiting this week, but now the union is on strike at work and my whole schedule is messed! :(

No, not really... they were average sized for this lake. One in particular was a nice Dolly, very nice to pick up one of those when your up there. Lucky had never seen on so the education factor was assume..
Not another person in sight the entire day..... You have to love that.....

I love that place when no one is around!! it's just you, the variety of fish, from large hatchery hold overs, to some of the biggest trout i have seen in oregon. Not to mention the eary feeling of of something watching you while you are there. The place will play mind tricks on you but if you can find the fish.... it is one insane place to be. :D

From your post I gather you have spent some quality time there, I know the feeling of which you speak. Spent many a morning on the ramp with the hairs standing up on my neck, once I am in the boat "no worries" but on the bank with your back toward the forest... I know exactly what you are talking about.
I was reminiscing on how much time I have spent over the last 25 years at this lake and it never ceases to amaze me, from the color of the water to the primeval forest that surround the water... I agree on the quality of the fish taken out of here.... My personal best Rainbow came out of that lake... think of it every time I cast my line !!!
We should get together and swap lies, we have probably seen each other up there on occasion and didn't even realize it.

Fun times indeed...

I am going back up this weekend, damn weather it was suppose to rain and be very windy.... Now they are calling for upper sixties and some clouds in the late after, I all ready miss the rain.
Maiden Voyage with the new boat, should be quite the experience launching and putting it back on the trailer by myself... this craft is the largest I have ever owned. It should scoot across the water at a very nice pace with the 40 hp, I am all ready getting butterflies thinking about it.
Will post some pictures of the craft and the lake when I return... maybe even some fish in the net, catch and release you know.
