Catch limits

I'll be hitting Henry Hagg for the first time on 3/5 (avoiding the opening day crowds). I'll be bringing a buddy who has never fished before. I just started fishing again last year (hadn't done it since I was a kid) but went on at least 2 dozen fishing trips since last spring. Spent most of my time at Harriet & North Fork.

My question is about the limits. Not just at Hagg. Can I have the limit of multiple species? For example: can I get my limit of bass and trout at the same time. And does the standard angling license cover all species? Stupid questions but I've had a hard time finding answers.

My best recommendation would be to get a copy of the regs and have it with you. Catch limits can vary from one body of water to the next.

Always check the regs but yes you are allowed a limit of bass which I believe is one fish and a limit of trout. There are also crappie, bullhead and perch.

For Hagg, F4L is correct: ONE bass, and five trout per day 8" minimum length, only one of the five can be over 20". There is NO limit on Gills, Crappie, Cats, or Perch (under Zone Regs...pg. 49 in the reg book).

I also echo Randy's comment. Good for you; for finding out the reg's BEFORE you venture out.

Also...your angling license is good for all types (species) of fishing. However, you need an ADDITIONAL "Two Rod Validation" License, to use two rods when still water fishing. You would also need to purchase tags for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon. But, you won't find any of those in Hagg.

Good luck!

P.S. When I use two rods...it is a BLAST!!!

Thanks for the quick replies. I definitely don't want to violate any restrictions. I have a two rod license. I had a couple of moments at North Fork when I almost wished I only had on line in. Gets kinda hectic when both poles are flailing. I have the regulation book but couldn't find any mention about my multiple species question.

A friend & I hit Hagg yesterday. We were in Scoggins Creek. No one around us caught anything except one guy with a 15" trout. I caught a 12". He went from lake to skillet in less than 15 minutes. My buddy who hasn't fished in 44 years (since he was 16), who's hooks & leaders I had to tie, who I had to teach how to bait and cast, who couldn't figure out how to use the drag.....caught 17", 18" and 13". The 17" was caught twice! He hooked it and the line broke right before landing it. An hour and a half later he hooks a fat fish. When he gets it in, there's my hook (with power egg), swivel and bullet sinker stuck in his jaw. Along with another rig. That means this bad boy was hooked and broke the line twice before! I'll be heading back on Wednesday.

Baiting and rigging, sounds to me like you were beng his a guide:D. Congrats it sounds like you guys had a great day.

I pretty much was his guide. I even brought in one of the fish for him (the 13") while he was taking a leak. It was a great day though. I'll be there on Thursday instead of Wednesday this week. Looks like better weather.
