Me and two buddies went out south jetty yesterday and smacked the lings. Most were not that big only 23-27 inches but still fun and I had two fish break 50lb braid after they sceamed out away from the jetty. We ended up taking 5 ling cod and two cabazon home.We landed 11-12 ling cod lost 5-6 more plus the two that broke me all on sort plastic and 1 1/2 ounce jig heads. Cool shots.

Dude, I just realized you catch a lot of fish! Saw a summer run, a bass/bullhead combo, and salty fish you put up, all today I think.

You got any tips for regular guys? LOL.

Nice work,

Great porn! Wish it had been me...:D

Nice work,

Fish when you can I guess and then fish when you can't too.The most important thing is confidence and lots of it!!!

We were using 1 1/2 to 2 oz jig heads and 6 inch rubber shads and twisters

Nice Haul!! so where were you fishing @ over on the south side ??? you don't have any problem keeping that much weight out of the rocks ?

around the tip and I went through probally 10 jigs so yeah problem with keeping them from snagging but there was other guys out there using same colors just smaller jig heads and didn't have nearly the hook ups with fish as us but went through less tackle so would rather loose jigs then not be hitting fish.Plus we tried to just bounce off the rocks with front of jigs then lift over and drop so didn't work out to bad.

If you arent loosing jigs, you arent in the strike zone

I have never done any good off the S Jetty except there are the tip where the finger curls around, but you have to pick your times to go and its a pain to walk that far on the rocks.

Good to hear someone is catching something out there tho, good on ya :)

nice ! i miss fishn the salt id like to go with if you have room next time i can throw down on gas......

How do you keep from getting snagged up?

With finesse ! Like dtikey said, he lost about 10 jigs throughout the day. That's pretty common. After awhile you will get a feel for it and be able to pop the jigs up over the rocks. Also like CoastieFlo said "If you're not loosing gear, you're not in the zone !! " With that being said. In a short afternoon after work fishing I'll loose about 2 jigs on average. 5-10 in a whole slack to slack tide swing.

yah growing up i lost my share of jigs and weights.... but thats why i use heavy braid and wire hooks so you can just bend them out off the snag and bend them back but only good for half the snags you get lol

no prob but dont know when the next time will be.Sweels under 5 and wind under 8 and no rain as I dont like wet rocks walking out they are already dangerous enough with being super slick. We watch majicseaweed.com to check conditions so I will let you know.

sounds good! hope to hear from you... and i run 50 on my big rod for 2 plus oz. of weight and 15-20 for the lighter stuff and i got a jig you might like its a secret me and a buddy were shown up in Washington we were getting skunked all day and about 50 yards up the jetty from us this guy had his 5th 15 plus lb ling on! and we had to see what was up and we shared some salmon steel head stuff to get it out of him because he cut it off as we came over to him then he gave us a pack of them for the shared info good trade because first cast i got a 10 lb ling and a cppl casts later my buddy got one a bit smaller then mine but ended the day with a limit and a bunch more on the walk back ill half to show u them some time....
