Bobber for springers

What are your thoughts on the effectiveness of bobber and bait for spring chinook? I am planning a trip down to rainie falls late April and want to try this or plunking... what are the best NON-FLOSSING methods?

If you have good bait and are an experienced bobber fisherman, it can be deadly. However, if you are not an experienced float fisherman you can toss bait all day without a take. If I was going somewhere new to me, I definitely would fish a way that I had confidence in. Personally, I prefer to drift fish for salmon or steelhead....For springers, I would try a small amount of orange and cherise yarn tied on my 24"-36" leader in an overhand knot, a 3/0 hook with a sandshrimp/egg combo and drift fish it. If that didn't work, I would probably toss hardware(spoons/spinners). That is because I just do not like to bobber fish...no matter how well it works, just not my cup of tea....

My success rate improved when I started bobber fishing for chinook, I use a 2 or 3 oz west coast float with eggs or shrimp or combination of both, set your stop just up from bottom a foot or two. Watch you float if fish are being finicky they won't always pull it down it will just lower a bit.

Area around Rrainie is far too deep, to be effective with a bobber. Also the current is strong. Plunking would be a good choice.

Good bait+ fish where they hold=Fish on!!!

Springers are odd fish, tend to stack in deep pools suspended mid-depth at times, bobber fishing is the ticket in these spots!
