Boating from the dam

Has anyone rowed up stream and crossed to the far side of the river and dropped down through there? I was told that you can avoid the boulder in the first chute by doing this? I probably need to look at it from on top of the dam a little closer, cause it always looked just as bad if not worse. We were thinkin of fishing it tonight and I was just curious if any of your guys had 2 cents to put in on it...

on another note... I was also told that the boulders never moved, they're just letting all the water out on the far side to get the fish to start using the new fish ladder, and this has made the chute shallower.

In my opinion the rocks have moved at the main chute. It has been passable every since i was a kid until now. I think the last high water event in march shoved the boulders up a bit. You can go through but at the very least you will rub if not bang a rock. Its a pain but i row over to the far chute now. Its clearly passable...and you get a nice mist from the spilway to cool you off !

pretty easy to oar up there and ride it down. and i dont know why they even put big boulders in there in the firstplace it doesn't make since to me. but ya the boulder got moved.

thanks guys, I think I'll give the far side a shot then....

either way you try it look befor you get there and take your time
