Boat rental at ramp C is closing

I just saw an add on CL for the lunch trailer and all of the boats at ramp C. It said the owner was closing the business and selling everything. I wonder if this has anything to do with the campground reopening and the lake opening year round starting next season?

Hard to imagine that more lake traffic (= more business ) would make you want to close up shop unless he thought that there was an increased chance of theft or vandalism.

That's what i was thinking, too. I really hope the campground thing doesn't happen at Hagg Lake. And if they are for sure putting in a campground, i hope it's as far away from ramp C as possible. Last thing i want is to return to my vehicle after fishing with a broken window and a thousand dollars worth of damage to my dashboard just so some loser can rip out my stereo worth $75.

When i went fishing at Green Peter this summer (which has campsites close to boat ramps), there was broken auto glass all over the parking lot by the Whitcomb Creek boat ramp. I was paranoid as heck leaving my vehicle parked there while i fished.

I believe the old campground is between ramp A and the dam. I know the campground could be good for Lakestop grocery's business, but I hate to see the increase in traffic.

Hassan has been making noises for a while about selling the business. It's very hard to make a living off it.
I also saw some bad behavior at Green Peter. The county is closing down Quartzville road camping because of the trouble and trash. Hopefully Hagg will have a better experience. I, too, am feeling very cautious about the new campsite.

Don't get me wrong I think camping is great but why would they put a camp site next to our drinking water?? They already allow boats in it so camping is okay too..?

I think that when they cancelled the expansion of Hagg (they were going to raise the dam forty feet!) they decided to draw from the Willamette. So Hagg is not as critical a source. Thus the addition of campgrounds. Also, if you think camping threatens water it's nothing compared to what happens on the banks of the Willy. The explanation is that municipal water filtration and sterilization facilities are so advanced that they can take sewer water (like parts of the Willamette) and render it potable. Ain't science grand?

Yes it is. I believe Newberg already recycles some of that waste water and use at the golf course and comunity pool. Wilsonville just completed or is about to complete a multi year project to be able to similar sterilization. I guess if they are able to clean sewer water and dump it back into the river at the right temp. it is not a bad thing ( or use it for other things.)
