anybody know if its worth going out this weekend for some steelies.:confused:

any day is worth steelhead fishing.... mad dog has proven that several times...

Never fished there.. is there much access? How big are these creeks, EC size?

if i remember correctly big creek is smaller then ec. it may have been gnat creek though.

Have you been in EC?

if I was home I would definitely fish gnat on saturday and big creek on sunday, gnat is much smaller ( except today ) than ec, big creek is about the same with possibly a little less flow-

Thanks guys!! I know where I'm going this weekend starting friday!! Do you guys think would be fishable tomorrow?

no on big creek, mabe gnat up by the highway... get there early.. might be crowded with locals-

That will happen as a chain reaction, but I will bring my 50 lbs braid as a backup, just in case I need it ;)

I understand... do me a favor though, if you lose 50' of braid in either of those creeks by accident, wade in and pull it all back out.. I always lose 10 spoons and 20 flies the first 3 times I fish after the salmon maggots are done.. Braid has no place on small watersheds- good luck waco!

I was just kidding!! I'm just taking my fly rod!!! Don't get too serious!! I know the feeling of losing gear just because of heavy lines in the bottom of the water!!

***** creek nymphs, peach eggs, and black leeches..... good luck!

Thanks HH!! I guess I'm using the same arsenal I use in EC!! ;)

Hmm might have to watch water levels and venture over Friday

Ill be in Astoria around XMAS, are there any other options around there for steelhead? Ill need to get out and away from the inlaws :)

the North fork of the Klaskenine and the necanicum or long shot for a native on the lewis and clark-

What river levels would I look at to get a feel for how one of those looks? Or is it a drive by and see type of area?

Near the hatchery on the N.fork or down lower by the bridge? I stumbled around there a bit a couple years ago.
