Hey folks,

I posted on here a while back and I've now officially moved to Corvallis w/ my family. Looking to head out soon and wondering:

what's the best store to buy gear in this city? I see there's a Big 5 sporting goods in Albany??
Also...what's the best spot to access the wilamette without a boat? Or any other spots like over in Philomath or the Alsea?

thanks!

Toms Garden Center in North Albany - any Bimart - Fishermans Corner in Philomath

Bi-Mart is always a great store to buy any fishing/hunting stuff from. If a rod or reel break you can take them back and get them replaced. And they have good quality gear for any type of fishing.

Welcome to Corvegas.

If you're looking for quality Salmon/Steel/Koke gear; Tom's Garden Center in N. Albany is the place to go. Otherwise...

The Bi-mart on Hwy. 20/34 (off S. 53rd), is your best bet for gear in Corvallis. But the store in Albany, has really GOOD and knowledgeable peeps running their fishing department. IMHO, don't buy gear at Big 5 (even though there is a store in Corvallis). It's poorly make junk, with high prices to boot.

The Mary's River, in Philomath has limited access. Plus, it only has dinky trout. The Alsea, however, now has Bluebacks running--and will soon have Nooks, followed in the winter by Steel. The Siletz, is also a good bet for the same.

I've lived here all of my life; and I've only fished the Willy maybe twice. It just has no appeal to me. But, if you look...there are accessible spots. Take a spin, for example, out Peoria Road and you'll find spots. If that's were you want to fish.

Ok great thanks

If not the wilamette then where?

When I saw his reply it made me laugh that he seemed to flat out ignore your post. I would recommend that huffmatic re-read troutdude's post, it looks like there is a lot of good information there.

Alright it seems I did not read said post very well. Sorry for the dumb question. Good tips.

You're welcome; and good luck. Let us know how you do.
