Precisely 40 minutes ago I thought it would be a great idea to take a break from work and fish a tailout close to my house for steelhead. 38 minutes ago I was at the river and walking to the tailout with one rod and one spinner. Three or four casts into fishing I hit bottom, get snagged and have to break off. As I'm walking back, contemplating my bad luck, I remember I have a bobber and jig in my truck and get excited to resume fishing. 10 minutes later I'm standing in perfect position to fish the tailout with new found hope. I see the perfect line to cast into and... BAM!!! bobber and jig are in a tree and i have to break off again. I think I better be done fishing today.

I was halfway expecting you to say your DB sunk again. Based on what you just described, probably a good thing that stayed home today. Ya know, with the bad luck and all. ;)

Funny; I was thinking of another DB mishap too. Glad it was only trouble w/ gettin' your line wet (and NOT yourself).

I HATE when that happens, earlier this summer I was slumming it on the bank and got a 25 dollar lure snagged on the bottom... To make a long story short, I went in the drink after it and got it back! Luckly it was july

Sorry to hear, I cannot fish from the bank anymore. Lose too much stuff. Well maybe just drift fish with corkie/bait not much $ lost if busted off.

If your not loosing spinners your not fishing deep enough..???(my attempt at comfort)

Great story to be sure, it is great that we can share even the worst possible scenarios on this site. I think I know the area you were fishing in and have left some serious money on the bottom as well, thanks for the story and best of luck on your return....

I would have gone in for a $25 lure too. Maybe even in January?

You're killin' me Jamie!!! ;)

I kind of had some inverse days of that situation this last summer....sometimes I drug in more of my lost tackle lost on previous trips than what I had with me!

One week I bent over to do something and lost my sunglasses that were setting on the brim of my hat, they washed down into a riffle and I thought "oh, well". The next week while fishing the same hole I snagged a wad of old line and drug it in and there were my sunglasses wrapped up in the snarl of fishing line....I guess sometimes you when a few!
