I was in fisherman's over the weekend getting some new gear to start bass fishing one of the workers there told me of a few spots there one in mind but can't remember the name or area all I can remember is it between oc/canby off 99E its called rock cliff or something similar to that name if anyone can give some tips or advice on finding the location and fishing it I really appreciate it

Its called Rock Island. Look at it from Google/Bing maps. There is a decent area to park right off the road. Cross the tracks and hike upstream until you get to a small clearing on the right. You will see trails, some game, some stomped down by avid anglers. Try to keep yourself heading towards the river and watch out for an overabundance of poison oak. Most of the time you can cross over wedged logs to get to other spots around the island or you may want some waders. There are many pools in that area that fill in during the winter. When summer hits and the river drops, the pools get cut off. You can find bluegill, bass, carp, catfish and some pikeminnow. Also, right next to where you park across the tracks is a channel that some rec. boaters like to use. That holds many of the same fish but mostly bass and carp. The mornings and evenings will entertain you with lots of surface activity. If you ever feel like targeting the carp, check out Igquick's carp postings or JohnMontana's posts. There are huge carp in there and would be a fun place for the bow anglers since you can easily sight fish them. Another place for bass is around Clackamette Park. There is a decent body of water next to the Clackamas river that holds many warmwater fish and has some decent bank access. If you feel like having a good hike you can go to Molalla River State park and hike towards the mouth of the Molalla river. There are a few bank spots along the Willamette that you can have some fun with but the best is the confluence where the Molalla meets the Willamette. Hike upstream along the Molalla to find more bass hiding in the deeper water. My only caution is that you may want a machete to cut down some of the massive overgrowth that has almost swallowed the trails leading there from all that warm April sunshine. Tons of Salmon berries can be found there as well.

Thanks for the info!! New to the area as well and trying to get into the stream/river fishing for bass. @Mikey if you ever need a fishing buddy in the area I live right off 99 in Canby next to the fairgrounds, haven't hit the Molalla or anything yet but I have a buddy who's lived here his whole life and said there is lots of action to be had in the pudding as well.

The Pudding has a few surprises in it. Don't get too crazy thinking that light tackle is the way to go. I would take 2 rods, one light and one medium. Some fish in there are much larger than you expect. This place can be a great float if you have the means to do so. Plus, if you find yourself in the company of anyone that has a creek on their property that connects to the Pudding, you will find some of the same fish. Caught my first crappie and a surprisingly large one. There is an abundance of cutthroat trout in that system, some pushing the boundaries into trophy size. Take extra worms. Those fish are hungry and see very few anglers..

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to get out there soon, you know of any specific spots from the bank? I don't have a float yet but intend on picking one up early summer. Just found out a buddy of mine knows the owner of the rock quarry lake up by the community park

The pudding only has a few spots that you can access the bank from since most of it lies on private land and that exists around the bridges. I was down at the quarry lake one day and ran into a couple guys who gave me permission to fish as long as I carry out some trash and not treat the place like all the highschool kids do. It was funny to see them pull up in a pick up and somewhat startled me. Unfortunately there are tons of people who go down there and fish without permission. There are bluegill, huge pikeminnow and some small and largemouth bass. I have found a few trout as well. I take my son down there to access the river for rockhounding purposes. I live behind the community park in the manufactured home park you see past the boy scout A-frame. Send me a PM if you want some extra company guys!

Im from Woodburn as well. I have been wondering where all the good fishing is in the area for a few years. Thanks for the info! :]
