Was curious if anyone has fished for springers or summers yet in the leaburg/mckenzie area. They're up at the middle fork so figured they may be up in leaburg as well. Let me know thanks!

I caught 1 summer last week and one about a 3 weeks ago but nothing since.

Hopefully Ill be up there soon! Looking to pull in some springers! Any suggestions for the Mckenzie?!

as far as what to use on the mac for springers or summers?

I'm going up there this weekend to try! Bobber and eggs and jigs is probably what I'll be trying

Springers are barely around.heard of a couple hooked.better chance at summers but those are still pretty few and far between too. Been pretty hit and miss for most out there lately....mostly miss. The regulars out there have been doing ok. but there are def steelies in there right now.just not full swing.Been getting pretty busy out there increasingly too.fishing is getting more popular each year. Don't want to sound negative or discouraging or anything like that, cause there are definitely fish in there, but chances are on the slimmer side

I have noticed that. Fishing is becoming more popular and the hot spots are just combat fishing. This season I am going to find my honey hole and hopefully it's a lesser known spot.

Focus your time, down lower and in the mid section this time of year and you may run into a little pod of biters. Deer horn road is a great area for steelhead this time of year.

The most common recommendation I hear for springers is to fish live shrimp and eggs 'sandwich' with a spin & glo, i know it's early but I'm eager heh. I'm good at putting steelhead in the boat but I want a fatty springer or 2 this year.

I know I am new to posting on this site, but I have followed the forum for a while now. If anyone has any advice on where to go steelie fishing pm me if you feel up to it. It's getting frustrating being shoulder to shoulder with snaggers. I have a couple spots, but people have caught on. Any help would be much appreciated. The mac or the willamette. Thanks guys!!!

Invest in a boat. The Mckenzie is hard to find spots that no one else knows about. Either the access or limited or there isn't any besides boat. Even a float tube will get you into much better fishing than anything. You can score a used one off of craigslist for around 200$+/-.
Heh, good luck to you! :-D

Not even a boat will get you away from the McKenzie crowds if your fishing up by the damn. Fish lower an there will be less crowds, but it'll be less productive as far as Salmon and chrome domes go...

Thanks a lot guys for the input. It'll take some searching but im going to check out the in town run also a little closer to the house. I'll find a spot!
But I am open to any ideas or advice of course. Not really new to fishing or the area just want to find a nice spot.

your couple spots are probably 20 other peoples spots but its just early so they aint out yet. there will be people every where learn to love it, or get a boat or fish one spot ebough where everyone likes you then you show up at anytime and get a prime spot because people know you or know that you can catch fish so they want to watch.

Get there Early... even tho it's still EARLY.... Pick your rock wisely too or u be fightin for it. But like Joem said, if you pick a spot you like, fish it every time and get to know the people around you, they wont mind you and you can join right in.
