Any Fish Yet?

My cousin fished the Siuslaw on Sunday and had one drive by. And yesterday Mazamas said that they have heard of a few fish caught.
Anyone have any reports?

Neighbor went Sunday and says not a net was flying. I'll be out there the first part of September

I just got a confirmed report of one being caught in front of the crab dock near the CG station.

we were out Wednesday 10am to 3pm and did not see any caught.

we trolled up and down near the CG station just to get our gear wet and enjoy the beautiful day, no action and did not see any big fish on the Lowrance...

on the other hand, crabbing was fantastic, this image is me dumping a trap that had 16 big full keepers in it...we plan to can the crab tomorrow and troll for Kings again early next week...cheers, roger

I am taking a couple days off and will be there the 17th through the 20th. Hopefully a few fish will be starting to show.

How is the quality of the crabs? Are they still pretty soft?

Awful early to be spending a lot of time on the Slaw IMO. The Umpqua has a much larger run which is spread out more as a result. I would focus on the Umpqua until the first week of September if you plan on boating many fish.

Oh I will be fishing both. I am staying at at friends vacation home on the water in Florence so I am going to give it a shot but I figure most of the time will be on the Umpqua.

How is the quality of the crabs? Are they still pretty soft?

the crab are totally stuffed with meat, after pulling that third trap, we had 26 keepers on deck and didn't really have any that were really soft so we tossed back 2 of the smaller ones...I am hoping for an early King next week...
