But, got it done!

Same scenario as my 12/26 fish...Hit lower Clack, then starting moving up river to various spots as I failed to find steelhead. Then, on up Eagle Creek and at end of day, voila, fish! This is the same thing that happened on 12/26, move up Clackamas and at end of day and finally a fish at Eagle Creek. Maybe I should just be starting there from now on :)

Was it a late summer or winter? All the fish I've seen so far on EC have been summers. Wondering if any winters are moving up at all...

I'm presuming both the fish I've caught on EC were winters from that hatchery. My understanding is that EC does not have summers, if they were stray Clack summers they would have the right maxillary clipped and the two fish did not, but did have a pelvic fin clip, which I believe indicates EC.

Great job!!!!!!

Nice job! Persistence is everything with steelhead fishing!!!

Another way to look at cold weather steelhead is that the bite may not have started until afternoon on a cold day.

Actually, I think you might be right. I've noticed that on the really cold-water days where I end up catching fish, it's usually not until mid-day or afternoon.

Man, you're steady. Grinding 'em out one at a time, one after another.

Hehe, the 'one at a time' hasn't been lost on me either. I do find myself wishing I could hook up several times in an outing, and that has happened a couple times, but obviously it mostly doesn't. But, considering where I've come from in 2011 with nothing to where I am now, I'll take what I get and don't outwardly mention it for fear of fishing-gods retribution ;)

I tried the lower Clackamas yesterday morning. Too cold then and had ice buildup after every cast on my rod eyes. Good job as its been tough for bankies on the Clackamas.
