For all those retards out there who can't/don't read the regs here they are really quick. Its one coho a day over 20 inches. If you manage to catch one under 20" inches you may keep fishing for your adult. The maximum amount of coho that can be retained is 2 no matter what. You can't just keep fishing all day and come home with a boat load of jacks because you didn't get an adult. Also if you catch an adult you are done. you can't keep fishing for jacks. Once you have your limit you can't continue to fish a rod and just hand it off. when your done your done. also you can't keep 5 adults from siltcoos and 5 from takenitch. Its 5 a year total form all zones for wild coho retention. also there is no angling below or downstream from the highway 101 bridge on the siltcoos river. and there is no 2 rod angling at all during coho season so from oct. 1st until dec 31st even if you arent salmon fishing. Seriously are you guys that dumb? we can't all have the mental capacity of minnow. but after witnessing several violations it seems that you all are.

Good way to say it :D

Well said, hope nobody ruins this awsome fishery for us all..

Andy, have you called OSP/ODFW during your outings? There is an "enforcement" number, on the back of your license.

It's pointless and giving my history I don't feel justified calling the cops on anyone. Some people just need some old fashioned justice but then I would be the one getting the cops called on.

Drink moar.

Pointless yes, pointless no! Tuesday I witnessed a guy catch and bonk and fish and keep on fishing. I called. Same ole story: No one close enough. HOWEVER, if we all keep calling when we witness violations, sooner or later they will get the idea and spend a little more time in the area!

Ding ding!

The opposite is also true: if no one bothers to call; then the illegal fishing will continue. In fact, it will grow and just get worse over time; until the law shows up. And guess what gang...WE are the only ones that can make those calls (along with other ethical / responsible fisherpeeps).

Doing nothing only results in no changes. Simply put, the illegal fishing will NOT improve, if we don't take some responsibility and make the call(s). If we just sit on the sidelines, it will never change.

It IS up to us to make a difference!

P.S. Law enforcement, as we know, cannot be everywhere. And they will not be aware of the violations that you witness. They aren't mind readers. They NEED our help!!!

I dunno...I'm new to Oregon so don't know exactly how things work up here. However, generally speaking the old saying of "the squeky wheel gets the grease" is usually true. Here is a suggestion: When you see a violation obviously call it in. Write down the date, time, location, agency contacted and who specifically you talked to. After a few of these, send a letter to head of the agency [e.g. head of Oregon DFW, Oregon State Police, Lane County Sherrif etc. AND the Oregon State Representative and State Senator for the location.

also, a letter to the local newspaper stating something like "in the past three months I have witnessed five serious fish and wildlife violations, called them in and each time was told the ycould not and would not respond, etc. etc.

Sooner or later someone will get emabarassed enough to do something. It may take a while. Its worth doing though.

Guy in a white raincoat fishin at the sand hill was the culprit. I was next to (just upriver) the Tyee boat ramp.

coughcoughcough

Bottom line...no one's gonna do anything, all you can do is keep telling people what the regs are. OSP doesn't care. ODFW doesn't really care either.....Hell..I haven't seen an ODFW worker out there since '05 There's just no financial gain to patrol it and write a couple tickets here and there..there's bigger fish to fry. It's sad but it is what it is.

The best we can do is self enforce and tell people when they're in the wrong..

LIKE for instance that tool that was fishing the fish ladder 2 years ago...I took a picture and posted that retards picture up on the internet telling everyone what he did (He had a fish IN THE BOAT and held it up for us to see, and continued casting at the ladder). He got all butthurt about it a couple weeks later when we saw a friend of his on the water....said he didn't know, made up excuses, blah blah blah..he knew...in the simplest form, there's a sign that says no fishing 200 feet from dam...he was like 10 feet from dam. I can maybe let fishing below the bridge slip if he wasn't being the douche casting AT THE FISH LADDER. That said...I bet he felt like a tool and didn't even want to be seen in the river after that, because we never saw his boat down there again. We didn't make a stink and call OSP or the stupid tip line, we just called him out and made him aware, and he wasn't down there again.

I'm the least confrontational person alive, but when I'm in the boat with andy and his gun (even the pink one)...I sometimes feel the urge to just slip up with some diarrhagia of the mouth and tell people what I really think. What are they gonna do? I got Andy for damage control.
