I went 1 & 1 today... the huge chromer that got away snapped my 30lb braid on the hookset like it was 2lb test! I managed this buck and a nice cut throat trout. Now 6 & 3 for the season and it ain't over yet!
Braid slips. So i always tie a palamar knot. Then burn the tag end and stop the burn with your fingers before the tag end gets to the mainline or knot. Less "freaky" braid breaks. But it happens sucks but it happens

I have read the improved clinch is ok for braid and the fish that I did land was on for a fair amount of time with no problems. I do know the palamar knot and can give it a try...I think maybe my drag was a tad tight for the swift water and size and strength of fish...lol

I would suggest the fish n fool knot. The palomar knot is a good one too. The improved clinch knot breaks at about 65% of the lines rated strength. Palomar is closer to 80% and the fish n fool knot is 100%!
