Yesterday my wife said I could go fishing today if I wanted to (hmmm let me think about that :) So I headed to George Rogers park and launched the kayak. The sturgeon bite was a little slow and soft for most of the day. I worked hard for the 6 that I landed. I was rewarded with a 62" fish though. Really put up quite a fight on the Salmon rod. Thanks to the guys in the boat for getting a picture. They were clearly rewarded by the karma gods since they immediately hooked up a double after taking my picture :D

I spent most of the afternoon bass fishing and ended up catching 3. None were huge but they were respectable. The bass came on soft plastic in about 5' of water near big boulders. Seems like they are starting to warm up!

Pics not wanting to upload. I will try to edit the post and add them later.

nice looks like a blast. So when you hook up to those bigger sturgeon do they pull you around much or are you anchored up and hold while fighting?

The anchor I use is only an 8lb mushroom, it will not hold against a big fish. Thus, when you hook a big one you drop off anchor. The big ones take you on a sleigh ride. I ended up 1/4 to 1/2 mile below where I hooked this one. Last December I caught a 93" sturgeon that towed me up and down the river for an hour. I am sure I covered way more than a mile on that ride :)

Great job bass. Thanks for sharing.

That is just to cool, 6 and 3 that is good day as far as my days go!

That especially means a lot coming from you seeing as I grew up in Pittsburgh during the 70s :)

Hey that is awesome! Any place off the park that would be good to run a 9' pontoon on? Looking for good places for the bass fishing!
