2025 Steelhead Show OFF

My slump started early this year. Lost fish, broken leaders, missed bites....finally got one yesterday after going 1 of 4. Hopefully, the slump is over. I know, 1 of 4 still sucks but at least I got one in the net. I am happy to admit I'm not the best steelhead fisherman around but I swear my friends try to lose the fish every time we hook up. It's a rant for another day but I'd kill to fish someone who knows how to tie a knot or keep a line tight. Is knowing the difference between a rock and a fish too much to ask?

Anyway, here's the photo. I hope you all are having a great season.

1 fish caught and getting the feel of shoulders? Sounds to me like a great day. Better than 0 and the feel of rock and tree limb tugs. Taking people out on my boat I always know that most aren't seasoned. The people who are seasoned are out in their boats scratching their heads as to why they continue to take others out. From time to time I have the privilege to go out with a couple of seasoned fisher folks, it is rare, and greatly appreciated. Least wise it keeps me OFFering trips to others. Sounds to me like your in need of a trip out with one of the seasoned fisher folk I just described. Be it your ride or theirs. Good luck & Keep the Faith

It’s been a rough year with all this cold weather and low water in my local river. Winter steelhead is when I really get out and fish, usually 20 times a year or so. Only been out about five times this year. I hooked and lost one in January. Had a pretty good three days after the last rains a couple of weeks ago, 4 for 5. Kept 2 and handed one to my buddy, released a chrome hatchery fish just cause I tagged one and wanted to keep fishing. Should heat up with the rains coming soon🤞

I was trying to be funny. Didn't hit right. Shoulda added an LOL or laughing emoji I guess. I'm blessed to fish as much as I do and the annual slump is expected. 1 of 4 does suck though.

Dude, last year was a good year for steelheading around here. I went 7 for 18 for the year. Horrible numbers. 1 for 4 isn’t that bad, you can make up for that real quick

I got out for a minute this morning by myself. The fish was a scrappy little guy but only about 4lbs. Look at that water color though. The stuff dreams are made of.

Fishing got good for a hot minute. Friday night I got out after work for a little less than 2 hours. I had the river to myself. I messed around with plugs and a bobber rig in a hole I like and managed 1 fish. I decided to see if another hole had fish and it did. 3 passes 3 bites, hooked and landed 1. I had to leave because it got dark. The next morning I knew it was going to be busy so I was the first to launch at 5am and headed downstream. I only found one before the masses joined me. When I pulled out I counted 28 trailers between the take out and put in. Most I've ever seen.

Fatty

Probably 16lbs. Factoring in exaggeration it had to be a solid 14lbs.
