1 for 2 today and no steelhead yet in December

Well, 1 for 2 today and the one landed was wrong fish, plus a native throwback, anyway. One I lost looked more like steel when I got a look at it, but then a gear failure with my P-Line snap opening (never had that happen up to now) up had the fish swimming off with my spinner. So, still staring at a December goose egg!

I always try to use rosco swivels and snaps. They are made in America and you will never have that issue. It doesn't happen often but once its happens to you once that's to many times. It could happen on the fish of a lifetime.

Still a pretty landed fish and you made it home safe so I would say success!!!

Thanks, I will look for those and give them a try. Up to now, I've had good experience with the P-Line and they appear durable...but with today's deal, I'm not so sure. It bent straight out and I had even loosened my drag as I was getting the fish nearer and that's been a trick I use to lessen problems with my braid/ 15 lb. mono tippet setup where the shorter leash and its lessened shock absorption can sometime cause too much stress to my knots/hooks.

I suppose so...it was nice to land the first and of course the thinking was that it was a steelhead had me going for awhile until it turned into a surprise. But, losing the 2nd one, when I was near certain it was a steelhead, was a disappointment as I'm engaged in that NWK contest this month and I've yet to get on the board! My last steelhead was of course the day BEFORE the contest started, LOL. I've since been dry for two weeks, and not for lack of effort...a bit frustrating since that fish launched my optimism for the coming month.

But yes, still nice to get out in the cold and rain today and hook a couple up, so I'll remain optimistic for the next outing, which knowing myself, will probably be tomorrow while the kids are at school :)

yup I know your in the contest so am I and entered my fish from yesterday which think would throw me about 2nd place as of lastnight.Still pleanty of december to go so no worries fishing just going to get better from here on out

I really don't think that will be a problem at all with the way you catch fish! lol
There could be one 35" in the river you are fishing for the whole year and i could see you hookin it with no one else seein one any bigger! lol
