So I got a 6ft uglystick, medium action 6-15lb line and I'm wondering if it will be able to handle fishing for salmon and steelhead. I'm lookin to get a shimano sierra reel and possibly an okuma celilo rod to go with it.

I'm looking at putting together a rig for steelhead from the bank. When it comes to reels, does anyone have any thoughts in regards to Gear Ratio, Ball Bearings (number or composition), Max Drag, and Line Capacity?

What is a good summer steelhead setup? I will probably be fishing jig and float. I think my winter setup might be a bit heavy for the summers.

I'm getting ready to re-spool my float setup and I'm wondering if I should change from yellow to green. Either way, I'll be running 12lb mono as a leader down to the jig/bait.

I went out last week and caught bunch of sucker fish. I usually put them back in the river but I noticed that some throw them on the bank. Does anyone have some reasoning on what to do with these fish?
