Just got back from Sunriver. Air varied between great and terrible depending on wind direction.
Paulina was beautiful with just a slight bit of smoke in the air. Fishing however was fairly unremarkable. We marked a ton of fish from 30ft to 60ft. However they were all either tiny (like 5 inches)...
Well apparently there is a large fire just west of Sunriver. The evacuation notice was lifted earlier today which is good. Still might make for some unpleasant air. The rental company gave me the impression that they won't cancel my reservation unless the place is literally burning down.
Thanks for the update! Maybe it's just that it's salmon season but I'm surprised by how little reporting there has been on other bodies of water around this state.
My boat is large at 20' but is also pretty flat bottomed and rides pretty shallow so hopefully I will be good. That or I'll just...
Heading over to Sunriver in two weeks. Planning to take the boat because it is finally mostly functional (little concerned about the mercury 2 stroke oil injection system but I'll keep an eye on the tank mounted reservoir).
I've read some old reports from the last couple of years that East...
I spent last week at Billy and I have come back less than impressed by the fishing. There were plenty of kokanee to be sure. Even without having any good idea of what we were doing we still would have limited out pretty easily every day. However the kokes are tiny and parasite riddled. We didn't...
Well things just got worse and worse for the old smoker craft. More and more holes. Basically can't be welded due to the rivets and sealant. I'm still tempted to wire wheel, alodine, and epoxy the holes and restore her to seaworthy status, but that might just be flushing cash down the drain...
Well the foam was hiding corrosion. Not good. Lots of holes. Not sure if I should scrap her or clean up the corrosion and go wild with JB Weld marine epoxy.
Well, this is turning into far bigger of a project than I anticipated. Floor was pretty rotted but you couldn't tell because it was sitting on foam. Foam is waterlogged and needs to come out.
Started messing with a DA polisher.
Previous owner replaced sections of the floor but took the easy...
Not as of yet. Shortly after I bought the boat covid almost killed me. I lived (clearly) but the hospital stay weakened me (muscle atrophy) so much that it has taken me until recently just to get up and about like normal again.
I did pick up a 8hp honda for trolling/kicker on Christmas Eve to...
Well I hit it with some purple power aluminum brightener and that stuff is pretty amazing. The paint is a mess though. It's not chipping off but is very scratched. I would like to paint the green/blue a gloss black but I'm not sure what would work best on old paint and the spots where the paint...
I have considered a drift boat but honestly one of my favorite parts of fly fishing is chilling in the river. Granted I seem very prone to ending up swimming when I should be wading, but nonetheless.
