You can spend a lot of time getting discouraged by private property and heavily pressured public areas (rafters, tubers, bankies). My recommendation is that you and your buddy just split the charge and go on a guided half day trip. If I could do it all over again, that would be my move for that...
Whats up Andres98,
I've been looking for other Hillsboro locals to chase fish with. I mostly go for trout but started after some bigger fish last Fall. I tie bugs too if you're looking for any . Hit me up!
Hey Gang,
Just reaching out to see if anybody would be willing to allow the use of their property/land for some dog training. I've got 1 spaniel at the moment that is all passed obedience training and is ready to start with bird work.
We need some land that would be suitable for pointing...
These recommendations are pure gold and should NOT be overlooked this time of year.
Glad to see you got some fish in while working the top column. Lord knows that's a tough enough task on that water.
I saw your topic just a bit too late. I love the Met but it's always been a high risk, high reward river for me. If there's a nasty snag of sticks, that's where the fish are.
I'm probably heading over there this weekend if I can scratch togethersome fishingbuddies.
Curious how you did/ what...
Broken Coastal, what's up. Welcome to flyfishing! This sport kicks ass.
I'm in Hillsboro and fish the Tillimook tribbs often. You'll probably see a rush of SRC soon as they spawn and prep for eating salmon eggs.
As for systems, check the Trask R. It's super fishy.
Deschutes is big water but...
Sounds like the March browns are your best bet for top water action. Size 6-10 stonefly nymphs could also do some real work down deep. I was out in central Oregon week before last and sz-14 black hares ear were the mvp fly all weekend.
The stones are starting to roll 😎...
After beating up on some Metollius. R rainbows last weekend (which on the Met never happens for me), I had to come home and tie up a few more of the MVP fly. Size-14 black Hare's ear with a peacock collar. Don't ask me why as there was no stonefly in the drift, just BWO.. Hopefully the fish on...
Well the salmon are coming into my neck of the woods pretty hot and heavy these past weeks. I was late to the big fly party but finally got to spend a few hours tonight whipping up some size 1's for the silver Sea Monsters out there.
This was the Kilchis. I'd heard that the chums were around and hot on flies so thats what I thought I'd be targeting. I'll make sure to put the Miami on the list to explore next since I'm really trying to get my Girlfriend into her 1st salmon also.
Those Alaska boys must be on to something!
This was my stab at a clouser style fly. The one that caught the salmon was half purple and white hair with a tight purple wrap around the DB eyes.
After throwing big flies all day and wearing out my shoulder, I finally switched up to this sparse fly...
